Sailing Director - Anthony Capri

Hello Lido Isle Sailing Family! My name is Anthony Capri and I have the honor and pleasure of being the Sailing Director here at the Lido Isle Yacht Club. I’m from Westhampton Beach, New York – a small but proud community of excellent seafaring men and women. A lot of things have changed, but Sailing has always been a constant and a passion since I learned to move an Opti around at 8 years old. I’ve always been a skipper at heart and have raced C420s, CFJs, Lasers, J24s, 1D35’s, TP52's, and have trimmed main for and worked the decks of some incredible vessels on both coasts. I love recreational sailing, cruising, and sharing this sport with others and through that have traveled some 110,000 miles on open ocean since 2010. In 2022, I've now been directing both Community and Private sailing programs for 10 years from Florida to Colorado to California but with Lido, I think I've found a home.

The sport of sailing has given me so much and I am a firm believer in the positive influence it has on a community. It’s for that reason that working at L.I.Y.C. is so rewarding – This place is more than just a sailing community – it really is a sailing Family, and its welcoming nature is contagious.

For 2022/23 we are looking forward to inclusive and fun filled seasons with new boats, improved curriculum, and new faces. I’m very pleased to tell you that we have an incredibly motivated and friendly group of coaches. These are Sailors from our local harbor and other small sailing communities, and I believe that they are excellent additions to our locale. Please take a few moments to read their bios and get to know them, to shake their hand or say hello as you pass, or to sail with them in our Friday Night Chowder Flights. We would all love to make your acquaintance or talk about what’s new with the L.I.J.Y.C.

Until then – See you on the water!

Assistant Sailing Director - Casey Tolan

“Ahoy!" My name is Casey Tolan and I am the Assistant Sailing Director at Lido Isle Yacht Club! I am from Alameda, California; a small island in the
East San Francisco Bay. I grew up playing all different kinds of sports. From swimming to hockey and golf to track; if you can name it, I’ve probably done it. But when sailing came into my life in high school, I never looked back. Since then, I've raced CFJ's and Lasers but these days you'll find me on the decks of Keel Boats and almost certainly working the Bow or Pit.

Racing in the San Francisco Bay taught me to love heavy wind days and to never tire of cruising out under the Golden Gate Bridge, but Sailing has provided me with so much more. From the moment that I started, I've had incredible experiences, met amazing friends, and found a community that I really fit into.

Working  with a community sailing center for 4 years taught me how to take those lessons and share the things that I love about sailing with the many. I really believe that sailors thrive within community, and that community thrives within sailing. It's for that reason that I am super excited to part of the L.I.Y.C. family and can't wait to meet the Island!

See you out there!
