“Ahoy!" My name is Casey Tolan and I am the Assistant Sailing Director at Lido Isle Yacht Club! I am from Alameda, California; a small island in the
East San Francisco Bay. I grew up playing all different kinds of sports. From swimming to hockey and golf to track; if you can name it, I’ve probably done it. But when sailing came into my life in high school, I never looked back. Since then, I've raced CFJ's and Lasers but these days you'll find me on the decks of Keel Boats and almost certainly working the Bow or Pit.
Racing in the San Francisco Bay taught me to love heavy wind days and to never tire of cruising out under the Golden Gate Bridge, but Sailing has provided me with so much more. From the moment that I started, I've had incredible experiences, met amazing friends, and found a community that I really fit into.
Working with a community sailing center for 4 years taught me how to take those lessons and share the things that I love about sailing with the many. I really believe that sailors thrive within community, and that community thrives within sailing. It's for that reason that I am super excited to part of the L.I.Y.C. family and can't wait to meet the Island!
See you out there!
